Tony: It's gonna be a real tearjerker. I don't know if you're ever gonna see these. I don't even know if you're still... Oh, God, I hope so.

jerk는 낚아 채거나 잡아당김, 비틂, 던짐등의 갑작스런 움직임을 뜻 하는 단어 입니다. 이야기, 영화, 연극등이 tear를 jerk한다는 건 굉장히 슬프다는 뜻이지요. 

Bring a pile of tissues with you when you see that film - it's a real tearjerker!

Seattle로 돌아가는 비행기를 기다리며 Kate와 Meg는 서로에 대한 솔직한 마음을 이야기 합니다.

Kate: Wait. You're an amazing person, and you always have been. I've always wanted to be more like you. If anything, I rely on you too much.

Kate: I always cry at transitions.

if anything은 어떤 사실의 반대를 말하며 '오히려'라는 의미로 보면 됩니다.

Living together didn't harm our friendship. If anything it strengthened it.

위 문장은 친구와 같이 살면 보통 사이가 나빠진다고 하는데 오히려 좋아졌다는 말이 되겠죠.

Ryan의 결혼식장으로 간 Kate와 Meg는 Ryan의 신부 Genevieve를 만나 드레스에 대한 이야기를 나눕니다.

Genevieve: It's Christopher Perry.

Kate: It's so gorgeous.

Genevieve: It was his idea, he came here to design it. I hope I can do it justice.

Meg: Are you kidding me?

Kate: I think that justice is very well served, right, Meg?

'do (something or someone) justice' 는 '무엇 또는 누구를 정확하게(공정하게) 다루거나 보여주는것'을 의미 합니다. 이 상황에서는 드레스가 자신과 잘 어울렸으면 좋겠다는 의미로 볼 수 있습니다. 만약 친구가 사진을 보여줬는데 실물보다 예쁘게 나오지 않았다면 실물이 더 낫다는 의미로 'It doesn't do you justice.'라고 하면 되겠죠.

Ryan이 참석하는 결혼식의 비밀을 알게된 Kate와 Meg는 결혼식장으로 향합니다.

Cab driver: You called for a cab?

Kate: We're going to the Fort.

Cab driver: Where?

Kate: Fort Lauderdale.

Cab driver: Seriously? That's gonna cost you.

Kate: Well, we're just gonna put it on my credit card.

Meg: We can split it three ways.

cost는 '(값, 비용이)~이다(들다)' 라는 뜻인데 비용에 '당신(you)'이 든다는 것은 '큰 비용이 들다', '비싸다' 라는 뜻입니다. 같은 의미인 'cost a fortune' 도 함께 알아 두면 좋겠죠.

Craig의 자동차를 타고 목적지로 출발하게 된 Kate는 얼마나 운전해서 가야 하는지 궁금해 합니다.

Craig: I gotta say, I did not see this coming. A little company, a little conversation. Usually, I'd just be blasting my tunes. Uh, by the way, are you guys on Google Plus?

Ryan: No.

Meg: No, I'm on Tinder.

Craig: Well, get on it. We should all be in each other's circle.

Kate: How long is the drive?

Craig: Oh, it'll be no time at all. I know all the back ways. Uh, 17 hours?

'no time'은 구어로 '매우 짧은 시간(에)', '곧'이라는 뜻입니다. 예를 들어 'leave home in no time'은 곧 집을 떠난다는 뜻이지요.

더 이상 비행기를 기다릴 수 없는 Ryan은 Craig와 자동차로 이동하기로 합니다.

Meg: You're leaving now?

Kate: Yeah, didn't you see the weather report? Our flight's gonna be back on any moment.

Ryan: I'm out of time. I just, you know, can't take the chance.

Craig: If we drive through the night, I can get you to Fort by morning.

Kate: What fort?

Craig: Oh, local speak, Fort Lauderdale.

through는 어떤 '활동', '상황', '시기'등의 '처음 부터 끝까지'라는 뜻이 있습니다. 'driver though the night'은 '밤새 운전하다', 'sit through a concert'는 '콘서트 내내 앉아 있다' 라는 의미가 되지요.

수영장에서 심한 경쟁을 벌인 다음날 Kate와 Meg는 호텔 라운지에서 Nancy와 만나 대화를 나눕니다.

Nancy: It was a joke. But seriously, you know? Sometimes you just gotta take what you want, whatever the cost. Because at the end of the day, nobody gives a shit whether you're happy or not, you know what I'm saying?

Nancy: You can put their drinks on my tab.

tab은 음식점이나 술집의 '계산서' 또는 '외상 장부'등을 뜻하는 단어 입니다. my tab에 put 하라는건 내가 사겠다는 뜻이겠죠? 식당에서 아는 사람이 식사하고 있는걸 보게 된다면 흔히 알고 있는 'It's on me' 나 'My treat'말고 이 표현을 사용해 보세요.

호텔 수영장으로 간 Meg는 Ryan이 지나가자 같이 수영 하자고 부르지만 엉뚱한 사람이 대답합니다.

Meg: Hey! This is amazing. You've got to try it.

Craig: It looks very inviting. I was actually wondering if you're not doing anything later...

Meg: First, I wasn't talking to you, and second, it's not gonna happen, okay?

inviting은 '유혹/매력적인', '마음을 끄는', '좋아 보이는'의 의미로 attractive와 비슷한 단어 입니다. 음식 냄새가 inviting 하다면(an inviting smell) 꽤 맛있는 냄새가 난다고 할 수 있겠죠.
