Aether(Reality Stone)에 대한 설명을 하던 Thor는 Jane의 사진을 보자 그녀와의 관계에 대해 잠시 얘기 합니다.

Thor: Here's an interesting story, though, about the Aether. My grandfather, many years ago had to hide the stone from the Dark Elves. Ooh. Scary beings.

Thor: So, Jane, actually.. Oh, there she is. Yeah, so Jane was an old flame of mine.

old flame은 옛 애인을 의미 합니다. ex와 비슷한 뜻이지요.

She met an old flame at the party.

The children are spending the weekend with my ex and his new wife.

시간 여행을 연습하며 긴장한 Antman에게 Hawkeye가 자신이 해 보겠다고 나섭니다.

Antman: All right. I'm not ready for this.

Avengers: Endgame

Hawkeye: I'm game. I'll do it.

game은 형용사로 '~할 용의가 있는', '투지 만만한'이라는 의미 입니다. 'up for'와 비슷한 뜻이지요.

He was game for anything.

We’re going clubbing tonight. Are you up for it?

과거로 돌아가는 시간 여행을 위해 Hulk와 Rocket은 Thano에게 패한 후 살찐 Thor를 찾아가 도움을 구합니다.

Hulk: Hello? Thor!

Thor: Are you here about the cable?

Avengers: Endgame

Thor: The Cinemax went out two weeks ago... and the sports are all kinda fuzzy and whatnot.

whatnot은 이름을 모르거나 잘 기억나지 않는 무언가를 가리킬때 쓰는 말 입니다. 정확히 알지 못하는 리스트를 두 세가지 나열하며 애매하게 말을 마무리 할 때 쓰기도 합니다.

The women were there in their jeans and T-shirts and overalls and whatnot.

시간 여행 아이디어에 대해 부정적인 Tony는 더 이상 그에 대한 얘기를 하고 싶어 하지 않습니다.

Captain America: Tony. I get it. And I'm happy for you. I really am. But this is a second chance.

Tony: I got my second chance right here, Cap. Can't roll the dice on it.

Avengers: Endgame

Tony: If you don't talk shop, you can stay for lunch.

talk shop은 관련된 사람만 알아 들을 수 있는 회사 또는 직장의 이야기를 (관심 없는 사람도 있는 곳에서) 하는 것을 말 합니다. Tony의 대사는 시간 여행에 대한 얘기를 하지 않을거면 점심 먹고 가도 좋다는 뜻이지요.

Are you two talking shop again? Why don't you forget business for a while and come and meet my friends?

Black Widow, Captain America, Ant-Man은 Tony를 찾아가 시간 여행에 대한 이야기를 합니다.

Tony: You accidentally survived. It's a billion to one cosmic fluke. And now you wanna pull a... What do you call it?

Antman: A time heist?

Avengers: Endgame

Tony: Yeah, a time heist. Of course. Why didn't we think of this before? Oh, because it's laughable. Because it's a pipe dream.

pipe dream은 이루어 지기 힘든 몽상, 희망, 계획등을 뜻합니다.

She's got this pipe dream about being a pop star.

양자 영역에 5년간 갇혀 있다 돌아온 Ant-Man은 시간 여행에 관한 계획을 이야기 합니다.

Black Widow: I'm sorry, that must have been a very long five years.

Avengers: Endgame

Antman: Yeah, but that's just it. It wasn't. For me, it was five hours. See, the rules of the quantum realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable.

현실에서 5년이 양자 영역에서는 5시간에 불과하다는 점에서 시간 여행의 가능성을 본 Ant-Man의 대사 'That's just it'은 'That is exactly the problem'과 같은 의미로 '바로 그게 문제다'라는 뜻 입니다.

- You only need to spend $5 more and you can get a really good dictionary.

- That's just it, I'm afraid I haven't got another $5.'

힘들어 하는 Black Widow를 위로하기 위해 Captain America는 인류가 반으로 줄었을때의 긍정적인 면을 이야기 해 봅니다.

Captain America: You know, I saw a pod of whales when I was coming over the bridge.

Black Widow: In the Hudson?

Captain America: There are fewer ships, cleaner water.

Black Widow: You know, if you're about to tell me to look on the bright side... um... I'm about to hit you in the head with a peanut butter sandwich.

Avengers: Endgame

Captain America: Hmm... Sorry. Force of habit.

force of habit은 단어 그대로 '습관의 힘' 이라는 뜻 입니다. 무언가를 '습관에 의해서', '타성'으로 하게 된다는 뜻이지요. Captain America의 고결함을 느낄 수 있는 장면 입니다.

I don't know why I check all the locks every time I leave the house. It's force of habit, I suppose.

Nebula로 부터 Thanos가 어디 있는지를 알게된 Avengers는 그곳으로 가려 합니다.

Nebula: Thanos is there.

Black Widow: He used the stones again.

Avengers: Endgame

Bruce Banner: Hey, hey, hey. We'd be going in short-handed, you know?

회사나 조직, 그룹등이 short-handed라면 일손(사람)이 부족하다는 뜻입니다. Thanos를 잡으러 한 두명이 갈 수는 없겠죠.

We're actually a bit short-handed at the moment.
